The cake that meant so much more
A perfectly happy week, I was looking forward to celebrate my son’s fifth birthday. As with all proud parents, I couldn’t be more happy to have everything in place right from the decoration to caterers to that oh so perfect orange and chocolate mousse cake. On d-day, the bakery delivered nothing less than a spectacular cake to us. I couldn’t wait to see the look of pure unadulterated happiness on my son’s face.
As fate would have it, not everything goes as planed. A few hours before the party, my fidgety three-year old was curious to know what’s in the box and managed to nudge the cake off the counter. My nightmare came true! I frantically began calling all the bakers in the vicinity who flatly refused to deliver a customised cake within a couple of hours.
As luck would have it, I called my niece who bakes as a hobby. On hearing my story, she immediately came to my rescue. She not only left work early but also baked a delicious choco-strawberry cake which turned out to be the star of the party!
As a gesture of my gratitude, I decided to give her a ThankU card (I tried it here – http://www.idothanku.demodemodemo.ga/#trycards) with a personalised message writing how much her efforts meant to me. Handing over the card made me feel immense pleasure for being able to put my gratefulness into something more tangible. Adding to this, the immense sense of joy both my niece and I felt was just the cherry on the cake!
